Troubadour
This summer, fromJuly 24 to 28, the “Austra Society” invites you to the second travelingsinger's festival “Troubadour” in Renda, Kuldīga district. Music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to attend two major singer's concerts, the concert and dances of the folk group “Zeidi” at the Renda stage, enjoy night singing by the bonfire on the banks of the Abava River, discover talents at the open stage “Tronis Troubadour”, and at the festival's finale, enjoy the concert program by Līga Priede and Andrejs Grīns in Renda church.
Troubadour – a traveling singer. “Trobar” (Provencal) – “to compose, invent, discover”. Thus, people who are able to find the right words like back in the 12th - 13th centuries in Southern France, as well as now in modern Europe. Singers have always had an important message, the word embedded in the songs, the content – the meaning, to be highlighted with a self-composed and text-appropriate melody. After living in one place for a while, telling their message to people, the troubadour moves on, thus traveling to nearby and distant lands. The “Troubadour” festival in Renda, in the heart of Kurzeme, will bring together Latvian singers and invite to meet some foreign guests. The festival will host travelers – singers and visitors, and will also travel to various places in Latvia, paying special attention to small towns.
The festival is organized by the “Austra Society” in cooperation with the Renda parish administration, supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, the National Cultural Center of Latvia, and www.ps.lv.
