Uguntiņa, the Sun's Sister

On June 20th at 19:00, a Summer Solstice event 'Uguntiņa, the Sun's Sister' will take place at Rainis Museum 'Jasmuiža' (Aizkalne, Preiļi municipality). Not only will there be various workshops, but also artistic collectives from Aizkalne, Rušona, and Aglona will participate.

On June 20th, the garden of Rainis Museum 'Jasmuiža' will turn into a true Midsummer celebration, where one can prepare and taste cheese, enjoy songs, dances, and a theatrical performance by the artistic collectives of Aizkalne, Rušona, and Aglona. Event attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in songs and rituals to collectively honor the sun and fire.

In the garden of 'Jasmuiža', an environmental object 'Sun' will be created from birch branches, willow and oak twigs, maple leaves, meadow flowers, and other plants, forming its own green 'sun' during the event. While materials will be available on-site, visitors are also encouraged to bring their own flower bouquets to weave into the communal sun.

There will also be a workshop where visitors can make a maple leaf holder for cheese. Workshop participants are asked to bring their own maple leaves.
