New jazz singer EDĪTE ŠTRAUSA and pianist MATĪSS ŽILINSKIS
For the first time, the festival will provide an opportunity to explore the multifaceted world of jazz music, as well as the young and passionate professionals of this music genre. The concert, featuring jazz singer Edīte Štrausa and pianist Matīss Žilinskis, will showcase jazz compositions by Raimonds Pauls, Ģederts Ramans, Uldis Stabulnieks, Gunārs Rozenbergs, jazz improvisations on beautiful operetta and musical themes. There will also be jazz-styled paraphrases of Matīss Žilinskis' grandfather, the distinguished melodist Arvīds Žilinskis, as well as famous operetta composers' musical themes. The concert will also feature the singer's original composition "My Path of Light," which was developed while mastering vocal skills in Italy.
This concert promises to be as nuanced and sensual as jazz, which has won the hearts of audiences around the world, and is a contemporary and transformative music style.
The accompanying instrumental group will include Jānis Pastars (guitar), Artūrs Sebris (saxophone), Rihards Jakuško (percussion), and Pēteris Liepiņš (double bass).
