Summer Elegance at Jaunmoku Castle
Jaunmoku Castle invites you to enjoy English tea in an atmosphere of aristocratic charm: "Summer Elegance at Jaunmoku Castle" – on August 31.
On August 31 at 3:00 PM, Jaunmoku Castle invites you to a special afternoon – "English Tea Afternoon "Summer Elegance at Jaunmoku Castle", where British aristocratic tea traditions intertwine with Latvia's cultural and historical heritage.
The tradition of English tea at Jaunmoku Castle is associated with its first owner – the most notable Mayor of Riga, George Armitstead, an entrepreneur of English descent. His era's characteristic lifestyle, elegance, and British manners have inspired this tea-drinking experience.
The event will begin with a historic walk under white parasols, led by the castle's lady. This tour will provide insight into the history of the Jaunmoku Castle complex, its architecture, and the cultural and historical values of the castle park, allowing visitors to enjoy the tranquil castle complex where every corner tells its own story. Afterward, guests will be invited inside the castle to indulge in an exquisite English afternoon tea – with traditional English scones, Alexander cake, specially set tea tables, and an inspiring atmosphere. This tradition of the British high society, which began in the 19th century, breathes new life at Jaunmoku Castle, inviting one to enjoy peace and the elegance of conversation by combining natural landscapes, culture, and culinary arts.
Please dress according to the weather conditions – the tour is planned outdoors, while the tea afternoon will be held indoors.
