Medieval Day at Bauska Castle on June 1st

Celebrating the 415th birthday of Bauska on June 1st, every visitor to Bauska Castle will experience an atmosphere reminiscent of medieval festivities.

From 12:00 onwards, various entertainments are planned in the castle grounds. Visitors will try archery and crossbow shooting, as well as test their skill in axe and spear throwing. Jesters, craftsmen, scientists, and astrologers will be active. Visitors will admire the neighboring country's knights in their splendid armor, magnificent costumes, and witness blood-chilling duels with real blows, flying sparks, and dented armor. At the same time, falconers will compete in the tournament "Ius Gladii - The Right of the Sword". The tournament will be opened and observed by the ruler and court ladies, while the fights will be announced by the knight's herald. The court jester will also be present. In between the battles, acrobats, jugglers, and boneless people will entertain with performances. The battles and performances will be accompanied by bagpipe and drum music. The winners will be rewarded with the favor of ladies, valuable prizes, and with a border-crossing ballet performance from the Krakow court in Poland, performed by "Cracovia Danza Court Ballet", bringing troubadours, knights, and love to life.

• from 14:00 Bagpipe and drum music; IX Falconry Tournament "Ius Gladii - The Right of the Sword"; neighboring knights' battles; boneless people; jugglers; acrobats.
• at 17:00 Border-crossing ballet performance from the Krakow court in Poland, performed by "Cracovia Danza Court Ballet".

Visitors to the medieval festival at Bauska Castle enter for free. Please note that to view the museum exhibits, an entrance ticket must be purchased.
