Medieval Day in Rauna

In Rauna, near the ruins of Ronneburg Castle, the Medieval Day will take place on May 18th. The festivities will commence with a solemn opening at 9:30. There will be a market with local delicacies and artisan crafts, as well as – despite it being spring! – garden plants available. Within the castle ruins, there will be a Medieval Tavern where visitors can taste a medieval meal.

Activities for both adults and children will not be lacking, all in medieval style. Visitors can observe the tent and equipment of the Order's brothers and soldiers, participate in leatherworking workshops and pottery classes. There will be a chance to try on armor, test weapons, and watch sword fighting demonstrations. And, of course, various sports and intellectual activities, including horseback riding and a ride on a Viking ship at the school pond.

No celebration is complete without music! Dance music will be provided by the 'Maskachka Players,' and performances will be given by the ladies' dance group 'Knopienes' and the dancers from Rauna Primary School. At 21:00, there will be a solo concert by Maris Auzins.

As May 18th is also Museum Night, an exhibition is on display in the Rauna Museum exhibition hall.

Both locals and visitors are invited to come and celebrate this day, spending it in good spirits and with pleasant emotions!
