Waves Lead to Valdemārpils
On July 19, the Valdemārpils City Festival 2025 "Waves Lead to Valdemārpils" will take place all day – let yourself be carried by the festive waves and honor Krišjānis Valdemārs!
This summer, Valdemārpils not only celebrates the festival but also honors its namesake – Krišjānis Valdemārs, whose 200th birthday has become the inspiration for this year's festivities. The event will proceed with the motto "Embrace the festive waves in Valdemārpils," and the theme "Waves Lead to Valdemārpils" will symbolically intertwine themes of maritime heritage, community spirit, and a return to roots.

This year marks 200 years since the birth of Krišjānis Valdemārs – one of the most prominent figures of the Latvian national awakening, the father of maritime affairs, and a pioneer of Latvian self-awareness. During the festival, we will honor his legacy with various special highlights that will remind us of our city's deep roots and the significance of its name.

To make the whole city shine with festive spirit, residents are invited to decorate their yards, houses, or gardens with themes of ships, the sea, or boats by entering the contest "Waves Lead to Valdemārpils" – decorate your yard for the festival! "The most creative works will be awarded."
