Greenball with the band 'Ginc and Me'

After a five-year hiatus, the International Folk Dance Festival 'Eima, eima' returns to Balvi District, celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The first festival took place on May 30, 2009. This year, guest groups from Estonia, Lithuania, Jelgava, Gulbene, and 12 collectives from Balvi District will participate.

Festival Schedule:

June 1st

At 16.00 (simultaneously in all places), spectators are invited to pre-festival concerts at Kubuli, the 'Balvi' boarding house, and the Bērzkalne stage. Entrance to the pre-festival concerts is free of charge.

At 18.30 the festival participants will march from the Balvi Culture and Recreation Center square to the Balvi city park stage.

At 19.00 at the Balvi city stage, the 'Eima, eima' festival grand concert 'Through the Silver Birch Grove' will take place. All collectives will participate. The concert will be hosted by Dagmāra Laicāne and Sandis Mesters. Entrance fee for the concert is 5.00 euros.

At 22.00 at the Balvi stage, the summer season opening Greenball with the band 'Ginc and Me' will be held. Entrance fee for the ball is 5.00 euros. Festival participants have free entry.

June 2nd

At 14.00 at the Viļaka stage, the closing concert of the VI International Folk Dance Festival 'Eima, eima' will take place.

Artistic director of the festival - Agris Veismanis, head of Balvi District dance collectives.

The festival is organized by the Balvi District Cultural Department in cooperation with the Balvi Culture and Recreation Center, district cultural institutions, city, and parish administrations.

The festival has received support from the State Cultural Capital Fund's target program 'Latvian Historical Land Development Program' in the project competition 'Latgale Cultural Programs 2024', administered by the Latgale Regional Development Agency.
