Under the Paris Sky
At the Valmiera restaurant "Akustika" on August 9th at 19:00.
Beautiful and emotionally profound musical masterpieces created in the City of Love, Paris, are traveling to Latvia. They have been sought, found, dreamed about, and will be sung by artists from the Paris Bastille National Opera – soprano Silga Tīruma (Latvia, France), tenor Pierre Soldano (France), talented pianist Ilze Jaunzeme (Latvia, Norway), and beloved Latvian accordionist Inita Āboliņa (Latvia).
They have created a program that evokes a festive atmosphere, “Under the Paris Sky,” bringing in the moods of France and also Italy, as both singers have been living in romantic Paris for a long time but met in Italy. Their program showcases the special charm of French music in a wide range, from the passions of the famous Georges Bizet's “Carmen” to the duet hit “The Phantom of the Opera.” It also includes the Barcarolle from Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann, and the duet from Puccini's opera “La Bohème.” A romantic mood is brought by French chanson performed by the soloists, with a touch of melancholy in songs from Edith Piaf's repertoire such as La vie en Rose, and, of course, the program wouldn't be complete without one of Cole Porter's most popular melodies, I Love Paris!
Soprano Silga Tīruma sings at the Paris National Opera and is known in Latvia for her vibrant and acclaimed role as Elvira in Mozart's opera Don Giovanni at the Latvian National Opera performances, the role of Clivia in the productions organized by the Latvian Operetta Foundation, and has performed in concert programs. The artist has been nominated for the Latvian Great Music Award for her outstanding performance in the concert production of Imants Kalniņš's opera “Spēlēju, dancoju,” and has also received the audience sympathy vote. Silga Tīruma performs in concerts and festivals across Europe, including the Sigulda Opera Music Festival, together with the Vienna Philharmonic at the Hainfeld Castle, delighted audiences at the Paris Bastille Opera with Elīna Garanča and Jonas Kaufmann in Giuseppe Verdi's Opera “Don Carlos,” singing the role of the Heavenly Voice, which received high praise. She frequently gives concert programs in France, Germany, and Italy.
