Winter Solstice I

The Krišjānis Barons Museum (Riga, Krišjāņa Barona Street 3-5) invites you on November 30th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM to a session from the series “From Midsummer to Christmas” titled “Winter Solstice I”. This event series is intended for Ukrainian nationals living in Riga and local residents, with the aim of exploring Latvian and Ukrainian seasonal celebrations.

During the event, participants will learn about the winter solstice celebrations in Latvia and Ukraine, share personal experiences, and sing Latvian folk songs (I. Meščans, A. Ērglis). In the second part of the event, there will be a Christmas traditions workshop with members of the folk traditions group “Budēļi”.

All activities will be conducted in Latvian and Ukrainian, translated by Ivans Meščans.

The sessions are free of charge. The project is funded by the European Union under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.
