Fisherman's Day in Nagļi 2025

In the 1970s, a thriving fishery called “Nagļi” began operations in the parish of Nagļi – extensive ponds were established and lush carp were cultivated. Even today, carp farming continues in Nagļi, though not on such a large scale.

The people of Nagļi take great pride in their water-rich landscape and fish, thus considering themselves part of the fisherfolk tribe and celebrate the Fishermen's Festival at the same time as the country's Sea Festival – on the second Saturday of July.

This summer, on July 12, the traditional event “Fisherman's Day in Nagļi” will take place!

The festive day promises excitement for the whole family – the little ones will enjoy an amusement town with games and surprises, while adults can test their skills in sporty activities and competitions, where there will be no shortage of excitement and prizes!

There will also be a market at the festival, offering the chance to purchase both delicacies and crafts.

Festival Program:

• 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM – fishing competition by the reservoir gates;
• 8:00 AM – 10:50 AM – water attractions by the reservoir gates;
• 11:00 AM – festival opening at the sports field:
  • from 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM – serious and fun sports activities (more information on activities is available in the Sports event regulations below);
  • from 11:30 AM – 5:00 PM – “Children's Town” with attractions and games.
• 8:30 PM – 10:30 PM – festival concert at the sports field featuring:
  • Nagļi ladies' vocal ensemble “Trio Rondo” (conductor Anita Mičule);
  • soloist Māris Sloka from the band “Klaidonis” along with guitarist Jānis Misiņš;
  • Latgale's musical youth group “Latgale's Klezmer”, who will delight with their uniquely lively music.
• 11:00 PM – 4:00 AM – open-air dance with the popular party band “Star Chord” (leader Imants Spīčs).
