Altnaja Shul - the Oldest Synagogue Building Add an Object
The Altnaja Shul, the oldest Jewish prayer house in Riga, is located at 57 Maskavas Street. It is possible that there used to be a wooden building here, which was used as a Jewish prayer house, but the construction of the stone building began in 1843. Only in 1850 were Jews allowed to purchase this property, and in 1889 the building was rebuilt in the Romanesque style according to the project by architect Reinhold Schmeling.
