Andrejs Upīts Memorial Museum Add an Object
The Andrejs Upīts Memorial Museum was established in 1972. It is located in the writer's apartment at 38 Brīvības Street, Riga, apartment 4, and has been open to visitors since December 4, 1974. Andrejs Upīts and his family moved to this apartment in January 1951 and lived here for the last nineteen years of his life. The building was constructed in 1911 according to the project of architect Ernest Poles for the needs of a bank, and the upper floors were used for apartments. The museum offers three memorial rooms to visitors - a study, a living room, a dining room, and an open guest room exhibition hall, where exhibitions and events take place. The arrangement of the apartment's memorial rooms, household items, photographs, and especially more than seven thousand books from the library, reflect Andrejs Upīts' personality and work style.
