Bebrene Manor Complex, Park, and Bebrene Roman Catholic Church Add an Object
Bebrene Manor Ensemble is one of the few in Selonia that has fully preserved all the 19th-century Bebrene Manor construction elements - the manor house, outbuildings, park with gates and a fence. Bebrene village is one of the rare inhabited places in Latvia that is directly adjacent to the manor ensemble and forms a unified Bebrene cultural and historical 'face' with it. It plays a defining role in the layout of manor buildings (1836-1896) and the church (1797) along one composition axis, stretching from south to north. The remaining construction elements are subordinate to it. The main buildings of the manor complex were completed in 1896, designed by architect L.J.L. Markoni, a representative of a Polish-Italian family of artists and architects. He designed Bebrene Castle in the influence of French Renaissance style. Within the territory of the Count Plater-Zyberk Manor enclosed by the park, one can enter through splendid gates (19th century). Until the land reform in 1920, the manor belonged to the Plater-Zyberk family. Nowadays, the building houses Bebrene General and Vocational Secondary School.
The church was built in 1797, with its design by architect L. Markoni, a representative of a Polish-Italian family of artists and architects. The location of the church is coordinated with the Count Plater-Zyberk Manor ensemble and park, with the castle and the church located on one axis, marked by the park and church gates. The church is significant not only as a valuable monument of sacred architecture but also as an essential part of the manor and church ensemble's overall spatial solution and the local cultural landscape.
