Berga Bazaar Add an Object
A hundred years ago, the architectural ensemble of BERGA BAZĀRS was the leading commercial and cultural center in Latvia. This unique complex of buildings was built by Kristaps Bergs, an architect, urban planner, industrialist, and prominent public figure, according to the design by architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns.
BERGA BAZĀRS was constructed between the 19th and 20th centuries. Combining the motif of an oriental market, a collection of shops and apartments was created within one quarter of the city of Riga. Over time, BERGA BAZĀRS evolved into an international trading center, reflecting the diversity of Riga's commercial and cultural life.
After fifty years of Soviet neglect and decay, BERGA BAZĀRS has been returned to the rightful heirs of Kristaps Bergs. Since 1993, BERGA BAZĀRS has been carefully restored. Preserving its historical essence and intimate charm, this small town within the city is being developed as a modern international hub for commerce, trade, and residential living.
