Nature Park "Daugava Valley" Add an Object

Nature Park "Daugava Valley" is established to protect the most characteristic section of the Daugava River Valley with all the terraces formed by the river, which remained untouched during the construction of the Plavinas Hydroelectric Power Plant. 

The steep slopes of the riverbank are covered with valuable floodplain forests. The Daugava Valley, with its unique flora and fauna, is one of the most diverse regions in the entire Baltic flora region, as it is home to around 800 plant species (representing 2/3 of all Latvian flora), including rare species found in Latvia. 

Nature Park "Daugava Valley" is included in the European Union's network of protected areas "Natura 2000". 


Nature Park "Daugava Valley" offers several hiking trails, the opportunity to learn more about the natural riches and cultural heritage of the park by taking a shorter or longer walk accompanied by a nature guide, combining it with recreation and environmental education.
