Eduards Smiļģis Theatre Museum Add an Object
The museum is arranged in the house of the eminent director and founder of the Dailes Theatre, Eduards Smiļģis (1886-1966), in Pārdaugava. It was built in the 1920s according to Smiļģis' concept, but the museum opened in 1976 after the renovation of the building. It features a unique three-story townhouse, Smiļģis' workroom, and a hall with a stage that evokes unforgettable feelings - it seems that the doors will open any moment and the Director will enter with his characteristic way of speaking and wave of emotions... The exhibition tells the story of Latvian theatre history and the life and artistic work of the director. The museum regularly hosts thematic events and exhibitions related to the theatre life.
