Francis Trasuns (Latgalian: Fraņcs Trasuns; born on October 16, 1864,died on April 6, 1926)was a notable Latgalian and Latvian culturaland spiritual worker, statesman, and writer. He was a deputy of the I State Duma of the Russian Empire (1906),chairman of the Latgale Land Council (1917), member of the People's Council (1918), and a deputy of the Saeima(1922-1926). Throughout his life, he was engaged in the defense of the Latgalian language and culture.
