Bookshelf Add an Object

The "Bookshelf" is the largest collection of books from abroad in Latvia. It consists of about 7000 units - books, press publications, and sound recordings that were created in Latvian diaspora countries after World War II until the restoration of Latvia's independence.

The "Bookshelf" is a special collection of Latvian literature from abroad. It was established and housed in the Laubere Parish Library in 1991. The collection of books was mostly compiled from the shipments of Vilis Miķelsons, a Latvian living in the USA. Over the years, other people living abroad also started sending books, and the collection grew significantly. Currently, Dace Jansone takes care of it, as Miķelsons wished, under special conditions - namely, the collection must be preserved as a unified whole.

The "Bookshelf" has gone through various difficulties, changing homes several times, and now it warmly welcomes its visitors.
