Gūtmaņa Cave Add an Object
Gūtmaņa Cave is the widest (12 m), highest (up to 10 m), and in terms of volume - one of the most powerful caves in Latvia. It is the largest cave in the Baltic States and is recognized as the oldest tourist attraction in Latvia. Gūtmaņa Cave is known as an ancient cult site. The walls of the cave are covered with inscriptions from different periods, with the oldest dating back to the 17th century. Several legends were born here, including the most famous one about the Turaida rose.
The cave is located in a picturesque place where you can walk nature trails and paths, observe animals and local flora. Near Gūtmaņa Cave, visitors can also visit the Gauja National Park tourism information center “Gūtmaņa Cave” to obtain more information.
