The manor house itself was burned down on September 21, 1944, when the German army retreated. Until 1989, the only horse of the city's estate resided in the stable. Since the renovation of the stable according to architect Inese Fridrihson's project in the summer of 1992, it has served as a venue for Art, Culture, and History.
From September 26, 2009, the New Exhibition Hall was opened in the old Agricultural Society building in the center of Rūjiena, at 7 Upes Street. It continues the legacy of the old hall and exhibits works donated by Rūjiena artists, as well as a special Japanese room dedicated to the friendship between Rūjiena and Higašikava.
