Jānis Rozentāls and Rūdolfs Blaumanis Museum was founded in 1973. It is located in Apartment 9, House 12 on Alberta Street, where the prominent painter and one of the pioneers of Latvian national professional visual art, Jānis Rozentāls (1866–1916), lived with his Finnish opera singer partner Ellija Forsele (1871–1943) from 1904 to 1915. From 1906 to 1908, the renowned Latvian writer Rūdolfs Blaumanis (1863–1908) – a friend and intellectual companion of Jānis Rozentāls – occasionally resided in this apartment as a subtenant. He spent his last years here. The museum features a memorial room dedicated to Blaumanis, with an exhibition introducing various aspects of the writer's creative work: literature, journalism, and theater.
