Kalnaziedu Hillfort Add an Object

Kalnaziedu Hillfort is located on the right bank of the Pļaviņas HPP reservoir, on the eastern side of the city of Aizkraukle, near the Kalna ziedu mājas (Hillflower House), which now houses the Aizkraukle Museum.

Kalnaziedu Hillfort is situated on a tongue of land, surrounded by deep ditches on three sides. The height of the hillfort is 17 m. Currently, the waters of the Daugava reservoir wash the slopes of the hillfort on the north and northeast sides. The plateau of the hillfort, which has a rounded quadrilateral shape, was once cultivated, suggesting that the naturally unbounded southern part of the hillfort was once protected by a ditch and rampart, which were later destroyed.
