Kandza Museum Add an Object

The museum, housed in the old tavern building, is a private collection showcasing the development of kandza distillation in Latvia and other countries. Visitors can explore unique exhibits and historical materials, such as a collection of glass goblets, a kandza distillation apparatus, photographs, and plaques with interesting names of former and current locations in various languages.

The museum-private collection belongs to Dace Zagorska, who intends to continue gathering materials and information on this intriguing topic. Everyone is invited to contribute an interesting glass or an item related to strong spirits to the museum.

Visitors can view the exhibition and listen to stories, such as how the characteristic gesture of knocking back a shot developed among drinkers. It is also possible to taste a small amount of schnapps - of course, in moderation, as the museum hostess says, "everything is good in moderation".

The museum operates by prior appointment.
