The building was constructed in 1936 and designed by the renowned architect Eizens Laube. It was one of the largest and most modern hotels in the Baltic States. The hydrotherapy rooms on the ground floor provided medical services in Kemeri throughout the year. Stylistically, Kemeri Hotel is one of the most striking examples of neo-eclecticism in Latvian architecture. During the Soviet era, the building was converted into the Kemeri Sanatorium. The building is also referred to as the 'White Ship' or the 'White Castle'.
