Wooden Architecture Add an Object
In Liepāja, a large part of residential buildings consists of historical wooden structures, which still remains one of the city's greatest pride. In the past, buildings could be constructed within one season, thanks to the preparation of timber materials. The skill of craftsmen was evident in the details of the buildings - in the finishing of doors and windows, decorative pillars or columns, and wood carvings. Liepāja's residential and summer house architecture has been influenced by a unique form of wooden architecture known as the Swiss House. The buildings are adorned with intricate wood carvings, visible on balconies, stair railings, and, in the most luxurious versions, also on facade decorations.
