Latvian Artists Union Museum Add an Object

The LMS was founded as an organization in 1941, but in 2018 it was registered with the Latvian Ministry of Culture as a professional creative organization. From ancient times, the union has maintained an extensive archive, offers creative workshops for painters, sculptors, jewelers, and others, organizes exhibitions, and hosts various events.

The LMS museum houses the second largest collection of visual art works from the 20th century in Latvia. The museum's collection includes more than 17,000 art works: paintings, watercolors, graphics, sculptures, posters, stage designs, ceramics, decorative arts, and more. The LMS is not limited to just the building in Riga by the Daugava River; it can also be visited at 3 other locations - in Riga, there is the LMS creative quarter 'Kombināts MĀKSLA' on Gaujas Street, and the museum building 'Biķeri' on Vecā Biķernieku Street 49, where the LMS museum's glass art workshops and ceramic collections are stored. In Gaujiena parish, there is the Zvārtava Manor complex, which particularly emphasizes the neo-Gothic interior, which is unique in Latvian manor architecture.

There are independent exhibitions and seasonal exhibitions at all of these locations.

The exhibitions, displays, and events will be of interest to artists, historians, and those who simply enjoy art in its various creative forms. Everyone is welcome to attend various events such as Museum Night or White Night, as well as to visit exhibitions and displays on a daily basis.
