Latvian National History Museum Add an Object
Established in 1869, the museum has changed its name several times over the years. Initially, it did not have its own premises, but in 1920 it was located in Riga Castle.The main exhibition was located in Riga Castle until the fire in 2013. The main exhibition showcases evidence of Latvian history from ancient times to 1940. The museum has several departments and permanent exhibitions. The museum's materials have been exhibited abroad multiple times. The museum also organizes thematic events, conferences, seminars, and lectures on Latvian history. Museum employees conduct archaeological excavations in Riga and other parts of Latvia.
