Great Guild Add an Object
The Great Guild of Riga, also known as the Guild of St. Mary (German: Die Große Gilde zu Riga, St. Marien-Gilde), was a fraternity of Riga merchants that existed from 1354 to 1939 and gathered in the Minstrel's Hall, which has survived to this day in the Great Guild House. It existed alongside the Small Guild, also known as the Guild of St. John, which united Riga craftsmen. The guild's statutes stated that its task was "to cultivate intimacy, polite society, feasts, charity, and spirituality."
