House of the Latvian Society in Liepāja Add an Object

In 1934, architect Jānis Blaua's project was chosen for the new building of the Latvian Society in Rožu Square in Liepāja. A special ritual was the laying of the foundation stone on August 10, 1934, for the newly erected society building, in the presence of Prime Minister Kārlis Ulmanis himself. President K. Ulmanis, addressing those present, spoke historic words that have been quoted many times to this day, as they reveal the cultural and historical essence of this building:

"May this building be constructed as a symbol of our UNITY, STRENGTH, and POWER."
