Building of the Lindenberg Cardboard Factory
The Lindenberg Cardboard Factory was the largest pre-war enterprise in the city. The red three-story brick building is a typical example of a 19th-century production building with a richly decorated main facade, which is a local architectural monument both during the Soviet era and today. The factory was founded in 1890 to manufacture medicine boxes, cartridges, and labels. The factory's products were distributed throughout the Russian Empire until World War I. The owner was Gertrude Lindenberg. During World War II, the German army repaired weapons in the factory. Since 1960, these premises have been occupied by JSC "Kurzemes Atslēga-1", which produces construction elements. The company's main production includes door locks, window hinges, door and window hardware, and other metal products.
