Ruins of the Livonian Order Castle Add an Object
The castle was built in the 13th century in a strategically advantageous location, possibly on the site of the former Latgalian castle in Beverīna. The castle walls were constructed using large field stones, filled with granite rubble and fragments of dolomite. The castle was burned down in 1702 during the Northern War. In the late 17th century, the city walls were also destroyed.
