Art Gallery "Durvis" Add an Object
The "Durvis" Art Gallery provides an opportunity for creatively expressing themselves for contemporary young artists. The gallery is located in a building that used to be a pharmacy, the laboratory of Duke Johann Gottlob Groshke, a natural object, coin, and surgical instrument collection. The gallery was opened in 1988 as the Tukums Museum Art Salon. The gallery got its name because of the 18th-century rococo-style doors.
The gallery regularly hosts exhibitions of artists' works and offers for sale artworks, practical art crafts made by masters, books published by the Tukums Museum, publications by local residents, as well as various souvenirs. The "Durvis" Gallery strives to make art accessible to everyone, allowing not only well-known artists but also new authors to express themselves.
The gallery building is included in the list of nationally protected cultural monuments. Its restoration is planned in accordance with architectural principles and the preservation of historical evidence.
Entry to the gallery is free of charge.
