Mencendorf House Add an Object

Mencendorf House in Riga is a branch of the Riga History and Navigation Museum, making it the only museum of its kind in the Baltics. The museum gets its name from its last owners, the merchant Mencendorf. The museum is created with the aim of preserving and studying the architectural and artistic values of the museum building, exploring the history of the people associated with the building, reflecting the everyday culture and traditions of Riga citizens as a cultural phenomenon of its time, connecting it to contemporary cultural life, promoting the museum's full integration into the cultural process by supporting events and ideas.

The exhibition features unique 17th-18th century ceiling and wall paintings. They are complemented by historical interior objects from the collection of the Riga History and Navigation Museum, creating a different character and atmosphere for each room. Visitors can explore exhibition halls in the historical basement vaults and romantic attics.

Mencendorf House also houses the Latvian-German Baltic Culture Center "Domus Rigensis", as well as the contemporary glass art workshop "Glass Art and Study Center".
