Forest House Add an Object

The building was constructed in 1933, strictly following the traditions of folk construction, and is one of the most prominent national romanticism buildings in Latvia (designed by architect F. Skujiņš). It housed the prestigious restaurant 'Jautrais ods' with a spacious outdoor terrace and a luxurious fireplace hall adorned with wood carvings. It attracted not only the flourishing guests of the Ķemeri resort at that time, but also many celebrities of the era.

After World War II, the building became a children's sanatorium called 'Forest House', where children from all over the Soviet Union came for treatment. In 1997, after the establishment of the Ķemeri National Park, 'Forest House' became the central building of the park administration. In 2006, the building underwent reconstruction.
