Monument to Garlībs Merķelis Add an Object
Monument to Garlībs Merķelis in Riga,specifically in Vērmanes Garden (on the side of Merķeļa Street). Unveiled on November 1, 1994,commemorating Merķelis' 225th birthday. An unprocessed granite block brought from the icy rivercarries the inscription in its field: "To Garlībs Merķelis(1769-1850). Creator of the Latvian Book of Destiny."
