The monument to the fallen fishermen and sailors was built in 1977, designed by A. Terpilovskis and architect G. Asaris, on the sandy shore of the beach that was dredged in 1937-1938 for port cleaning. The sculpture depicts a woman looking back, with her raised hand. The bronze figure is placed on an 11-meter high pedestal, clad in Sāmsala dolomite.
