Monument to the Governor General of Livonia, Filippo Paulucci Add an Object
On October 23, 1812, Filippo Paulucci began his work in Riga - a city to which he dedicated almost 20 years of his life. Thanks to his initiatives and support, the center of Riga, starting from Elizabetes Street, is the way we see it today, as well as being able to enjoy Vermanes Garden, as well as things that we take for granted today, such as street lighting and house numbering. After the great fire of the Riga suburbs in the summer of 1812, everything in this part of the city had to be rebuilt. In Vermanes Garden, there is an obelisk dedicated to Filippo Paulucci (a black obelisk with an inscription in Russian and German, "In Memory of October 23, 1812" is located in the park near the children's playground).
