Rainis Museum "Tadenava" Add an Object
Jānis Pliekšāns, later known as Rainis, was born in Tadenava on September 11, 1865. The museum complex consists of the half-manor residential house and barn, built during the tenure of Rainis' father Krišjānis Pliekšāns in the 1860s, as well as the residential house of the "Dāboliņi" farm, established in the 1920s, and a sauna and cellar. The half-manor house has been arranged as a museum since 1959.
In addition to games and play, the museum especially loves bird days, which take place in autumn and spring, gathering families for creative workshops. The museum hosts conferences and seminars, attracting writers and creative individuals.
The museum is open from May 1st to October 31st. On Rainis' birthday, September 11th, the last Saturday of each month, as well as on International Museum Day on May 18th and during the International event "European Museum Night" from 7:00 PM, it is possible to visit the museum free of charge.
