Riga Porcelain Museum Add an Object

RIGA PORCELAIN MUSEUM is an organization, part of the Riga Municipality Cultural Institutions Association, operating under the jurisdiction of the Education, Culture, and Sports Department of the Riga City Council. Visitors can explore the history of porcelain production in Riga, admire the variety of shapes and designs of porcelain objects. Visitors are invited to participate in porcelain shaping and painting workshops.

The Riga Porcelain Museum was established on the basis of the collection of the liquidated AS Riga Porcelain Museum, ensuring its preservation and research. In 2000, the collection was transferred to the ownership of the Riga City. The Riga Porcelain Museum was opened on October 30, 2001.
The basis of the museum's collection is the collection of the Riga Porcelain Factory Museum - eight thousand various porcelain and faience items made from the mid-19th century to the end of the 20th century. The majority of these items were produced in the Riga Porcelain Factory from the 1950s to the 1990s, providing a comprehensive overview of the design of serial porcelain products. The range of items produced at the Kuznetsov and Yesen factories is not as extensive, so supplementing this period's items is one of the priorities of the collection.
In a separate exhibition space, decorative objects dedicated to various events of Soviet ideology are displayed - vases, shields, small plastic objects.
