Building of the Saeima Add an Object

The building of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia was constructed in 1867 as the Vidzeme Armory House according to the project of R. Pflūgs and the first academically educated Latvian architect J. F. Baumanis. The Vidzeme Armory House is built in the style of historicism, but the idea of the building itself is borrowed from the Renaissance architecture of the castles in Florence. From 1900 to 1903, the Armory House was significantly expanded according to the project of V. Neimaņš. In 1923, the building was once again reconstructed according to the project of E. Laube, and it was after this reconstruction that the first Saeima of the Republic of Latvia started its work in the building. The last renovation of the building was carried out in 1998 according to the project of architects A. Veidemans, M. Liepa, and G. Muižzemnieks.
