Concert of Saxophonist Dāvis Jurka's Jazz Quartet Add an Object

Dāvis Jurka, who represents the new generation of Latvian jazz musicians, together with his fellow musicians (pianist Ritvars Garoza, bassist Toms Poišs, and percussionist Kaspar Kurdeko), will perform the concert "Strings attached", featuring original music composed and arranged specifically for the jazz quartet and string ensemble by Dāvis Jurka and Ritvars Garoza.

Dāvis Jurka, the leader of the quartet, for whom this concert is also a master's degree exam at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, says: "This is a project that has been cherished and carefully prepared for a long time. Together with the quartet's pianist Ritvars Garoza, who is also a great composer, we have worked seriously on this program. We are especially delighted to perform in the Aula of Stradiņš University, which is one of the best concert venues in Riga with excellent acoustics. The quartet will also be joined by a string ensemble. Although it may not be a common occurrence in Latvian jazz music, it will bring a fresh and colorful aspect to the sound."
