Smiltene Hydroelectric Power Plant Add an Object

Currently, you can see the new private hydroelectric power plant, which was built in 1999.

The owner of Smiltene Manor, Pauls Līvens, first converted the water power of the Abula River into electricity in 1901 by installing a water wheel with a generator in the old manor's barn, which was located on the shore of Vidus Lake. In 1913, Līvens built the most modern hydroelectric power plant in the Baltic region at that time.
