This cinema is one of the most splendid and oldest cinemas in Europe, since 1923 when it was built specifically for cinema needs. The building has consistently showcased cinema, therefore 'Splendid Palace' has preserved its historical appearance and value as an architectural monument. After World War II, it was renamed as 'Kino Riga', and the original name was restored only in 2011. The cinema offers high-quality films - both foreign and domestic. The cinema program is also complemented by live opera broadcasts and recordings from the world's most famous opera houses. It also hosts various film festivals and new, creative cinema projects.
