The building is a state-recognized historical monument called the 'Vidzeme Teachers' Seminar.' It was constructed from 1850 to 1853 specifically for the Vidzeme Church School Teachers' Seminar based on sketches by Vidzeme Rural School Advisor K.K. Ulmanis. The seminar was located here until its closure.
