Vecpuišu Park Add an Object

Vecpuišu Park was established following the proposal of Dr. Georgs Apinis. Apinis founded the 'Seven Bachelors Society' to create the park. In 1913, G. Apinis and the other seven co-owners purchased the 'Lily Garden' located in the city center. The pavilion building in Vecpuišu Park was constructed in 1914. The city finally obtained full ownership of Vecpuišu Park only in the late 1930s. During World War I, the pavilion hall served as a field hospital. At different times, Vecpuišu Park was referred to as the Cultural Park, Communist Youth Park, and Central Park.
