Registration of children for school starts on 1 March

Applications for pupils’ admission to Grade 1 at the educational institutions of the Jūrmala City Municipality for the 2019/2020 school year open on 1 March 2019 and continue until 24 May 2019.

Educational institutions will accept parents’ applications on working days from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. An application may also be sent electronically to the educational institution’s official email address or e-address, signed with a secure electronic signature and time stamp.

If parents have applied for the pupil’s admission to an educational institution by 24 May 2019, the child will be admitted to Grade 1 in the following order of priority:

1.    a pupil whose place of residence is declared in the administrative territory of the Jūrmala City Municipality and whose sibling attends the selected educational institution in a basic or secondary education programme;

2.    a pupil whose place of residence is declared in the administrative territory of the Jūrmala City Municipality and whose parent works at the selected educational institution;

3.    a pupil whose place of residence is declared in the administrative territory of the Jūrmala City Municipality;

4.    a pupil whose place of residence is not declared in the administrative territory of the Jūrmala City Municipality.

By 10 June 2019, the educational institution will inform the parents in writing of the decision taken—whether the pupil has been admitted to Grade 1 at the relevant educational institution. If the pupil is not admitted to Grade 1 at the relevant educational institution, the principal will inform the Jūrmala City Council’s Education Department, which will inform the parents in writing within ten working days about vacancies at other municipal educational institutions where it is possible to apply for admission to Grade 1.
