3. Gutman’s Cave

Gutman’s Cave is located near the town of Sigulda in Gauja National Park. It is the largest cave in the Baltic states, although it is a relatively small grotto overall: it is almost 19 metres deep, 12 metres wide at its widest point and 10 metres high. The cave walls are made of red sandstone formed during the Devonian period. A stream flows out of the cave. The cave walls and the area in front of its entrance are completely covered with inscriptions in various languages. These inscriptions were created over five centuries, the earliest dating from the 16th century. Many of the inscriptions are dated.

6. Sigulda Evangelical Lutheran Church

The church was first mentioned in records dating from 1483; its patrons were members of the Kropotkin princely family. You can climb the church tower and view the surrounding area from above!

7. Serpentine Path

A serpentine path approximately 600 metres long leads from Svētku Square to the Gauja, offering panoramic views of the unique beauty of the Gauja Valley. It is especially pleasant to walk along this path in early spring, when the slopes are covered with a carpet of white and blue flowers, or a little later, when lily of the valley blooms and its fragrance fills the air.
