Today, 14 December, registration opens for the now traditional “Women’s Day Rally”, which on 4 March next year will once again bring together several thousand women for an exciting driving adventure. This will be the ninth consecutive event of its kind, for which women prepare carefully every year, thinking about a unified team look and also decorating their vehicles. To make the “Women’s Day Rally” different, this year, too, the start will be given in cities in two regions of Latvia—the East and the West. The rally finish, featuring various surprises, will be in the capital, where, at the ceremonial awards ceremony, the winning crew on each route will receive a trip to a warm destination as the main prize.
Local residents in both starting cities can expect the participants of the “Women’s Day Rally” to arrive early in the morning, as the event is scheduled to begin at 8:00, when participants will register and prepare for the start at 10:00. By planning their tactics, each crew will have to work out how to reach the checkpoints as quickly as possible; however, this year the women will need to be especially observant and resourceful. Their attention may be diverted from the usual checkpoint activities by a variety of additional tasks and activities, which will provide no shortage of tense moments and positive emotions, as something like this is planned for the first time. The orientation element so characteristic of the Women’s Day Rally—navigating Latvia’s roads by following a route legend—will also remain.
After finding all the checkpoints and successfully finishing, the participants will be awaited at eight in the evening at the “Rīga Plaza” fashion and entertainment centre, where the “Women’s Day Rally” closing party will be held in a different format. The tradition of presenting participants with surprise prizes provided by supporters in more than ten categories will remain unchanged, while the winners of the East and West routes will be able to embark on a wonderful trip to a warm destination. Once again, the event organisers will strive to make the rally different from those of previous years and pleasantly surprise every participant, including those who have taken part in the rally several times.
To maintain the quality of the event, the number of crews is limited this year as well—700 crews will be allowed to participate, 350 on each route. The first 50 crews on each route can register for the rally at a special price of EUR 63.
