Call for Projects to Organise Leisure Activities for Riga’s Children and Young People During the Summer
The Education, Culture and Sports Department of the Riga City Council (RD IKSD) announces a call for projects to organise leisure activities for children and young people during the summer of 2021. Associations and foundations that work with children and young people and operate in Riga are invited to participate.
The call is organised to provide financial support for projects by non-governmental organisations that offer children and young people free leisure opportunities during the summer school holidays, promoting their values, active participation and involvement in physical activities.
Support will be provided for projects involving physical activities that do not require purposeful, long-term prior training in the relevant sport, such as open training sessions, amateur tournaments and similar activities. In addition, funding will be awarded to projects that organise creative workshops, street culture festivals, outdoor activities incorporating elements of adventure education, events related to exploring the city, and activities that have a positive impact on the social and physical environment in local neighbourhoods. For the second year in a row, non-governmental organisations are especially encouraged to consider projects aimed at working with young people at risk of social exclusion.
When implementing the projects, organisers must comply with the restrictions related to Covid-19 and epidemiological safety measures.
The call regulations and related documents are available at www.izglitiba.riga.lv under “Funding Calls”. Project applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on 7 May 2021. Applications must be submitted electronically only, by sending projects signed with a secure electronic signature to iksd.sportjaun@riga.lv or using the “Application to an Institution” service available on the Latvija.lv portal. Projects will not be accepted in person at the RD IKSD Customer Service Centre at 5 Valdemāra Street or by post.
On Wednesday, 21 April, from 3:00 p.m., everyone interested is invited to an online information event at which RD IKSD specialists will provide information about the call requirements and preparation of applications, as well as answer questions related to this call. The information seminar will be streamed on the RD IKSD Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/rd.iksd)
Consultations regarding the call can be obtained from Evija Pelša, Lead Specialist–Expert of the RD IKSD Youth Department, by email at evija.pelsa@riga.lv or by telephone at 67181383.
